Iceland has become the latest supermarket to commit to labelling all of its own-brand vegan products, following Animal Aid's #MarkItVegan campaign.
In recent times, Iceland has upped its vegan game – citing the rise in plant-based eating as their reason. Earlier this year, it was revealed that the vegan No Bull burger – sold exclusively at Iceland – consistently out-sold their Wagyu beef counterpart by 10 per cent over the past year. In addition to this, most recently Iceland has announced plans for an entire vegan section in its stores and that it is set to release 13 new vegan-friendly products, including a vegan chorizo alternative.
Therefore, it is no surprise that Iceland has seen the benefits of clear vegan labelling.
It should be noted that Iceland is only at the beginning of the long and complex process of implementing this with its suppliers so the label will not be seen for a while; nevertheless, this is fantastic news!
Thank you, Iceland, for making shopping easier for vegans, vegetarians and those who wish to try more vegan food!
Iceland will join Tesco, Asda, Aldi and Morrisons, who have all committed and started to label their own-brand vegan products as a result of our #MarkItVegan campaign.
